Our belief is that every child should develop his or her musical talent to the best of their ability.

Preparatory School pupils receive two music lessons a week.The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum guidelines for music, which covers the areas of performing, composing and appraising.  Music theory and literacy is covered informally at this level. Singing is at the heart of the music programme and our choir is both  enthusiastic and successful.

We have a specialist music teacher who, besides teaching class music throughout the school, liaises with our visiting instrumental and singing teachers. Private tuition is best deferred until the child can read fluently, usually in Middles.

There are plenty of opportunities for pupils to perform in assemblies, Carol service, music recitals and concerts.  In addition music is interwoven into clubs, activities and opportunities outside the main curriculum.
