Our
aim in the Preparatory School is to develop the children's confidence and
dexterity in the use of ICT and so stimulate their curiosity, interest and
enjoyment of ICT.
We promote a cross-curricular approach to the subject, exploiting its use in all areas. Children also receive discrete ICT lessons from J1 onwards, from a specialist subject teacher in the Senior School ICT suite. An interactive whiteboard is used to encourage a multimedia approach to teaching and learning in the School. Our guidelines for the acquisition and development of ICT skills, concepts, methodology and vocabulary are drawn from the National Curriculum. The course is progressive in nature, and utilises age appropriate software to build handling and communication skills. In the course of their studies pupils will increasingly use ICT skills to access data from a wide range of sources and to analyse and present information creatively and with discrimination. By the time pupils leave J4 they will be familiar with the use and care of computers and competent in the use of a range of software applications.
