Our
aim is to develop an understanding in the minds of pupils of where they live,
of people and places and how people interact with their environment. Geography is taught by class teachers, as a
broadly topic based subject in such a way as to stimulate the children's
curiosity about the world around them. We base our studies around KS1 and
KS2 of the National Curriculum.
In addition to learning about other cultures and countries, environmental issues form a significant part of our studies. We aim to teach pupils about how to care for the environment whilst encouraging them to explore the issues and form their own opinions. The learning of facts and the acquisition of skills are also considered vital. Full use is made of the school grounds for field studies and observation based activity and our location is wonderful for developing an appreciation of the physical landscape. Older children will participate in field trips and workshops, where opportunities arise, to further enhance their studies. |
