 Our
aim is to develop children's self esteem and confidence through art by
fostering a positive attitude to the subject and by laying good foundations for
further education, interest and enjoyment of art.
Art , above all, should be fun. It should stimulate children's creativity and imagination. By offering experiences, ways of learning and forms of communication and self expression that differ from other areas of the curriculum, Art helps to develop the quality of a child's learning .
Art is taught by
all class teachers and there is a specialist Art teacher who works mainly with
Middles. Howell's has a dedicated Art and Design Studio which is spacious and
well equipped. The subject is taught through an exciting mix of varied projects
encompassing a wide range of processes, skills and experiences, both 2D and 3D.
Children are helped to make links their own work and that of other artists, and
are encouraged to evaluate and reflect on their own work and progress through shared
discussion.
