On the 26th September, the 10th anniversary of European Languages Day the Modern Languages staff organised a fun filled day of activities for the students of the school. After a European Day quiz and presentation on the importance of learning languages by Ruth Ng (Year 13), students across the board enjoyed dancing, eating and discovering new languages by our amazing international students. The girls had the opportunity to explore new languages such as Cantonese Chinese with Didi Wong (Year 9), Ghanaian with Joana Applesby (Year13), Nigerian with Olawunmi Davies-Nnadi (Year 8), and Russian with Maria Kulich (Year 13). Our extremely talented Emily Duller (Year 9) taught us Sign Language!
After sweets from a Chinese chop sticks competition, the final instalment of the day was the learning of ‘The Sevillanas’, taught by our two ‘flamenco dancers’ Paula Adamez Nieto (Year 10) and Dolores Diaz Liberal (Year 10), directly from Overall the day was a huge success with girls learning about far away countries, experiencing other cultures, and, most significantly, developing an even greater passion for the languages that they learn everyday.
