"If you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough"                                                                                                         Albert Einstein, Physicist.

Physics is the study of the Laws of Nature, as such it is concerned with the fundamentals of the universe and therefore could be said to be the most fundamental of the three natural sciences. The aim of the department is to develop within our students an appreciation of the role of physics within both the natural world and technology.

Our practical approach seeks to achieve this through the application of simple Physical principles as demonstrated in everyday situations. Investigative skills are acquired as we research, experiment and analyse the core study areas of matter, energy, motion and force in our quest to find out how the universe works!

Physics is taught throughout the school as a distinct subject by experienced, specialist subject teachers. It is a compulsory subject to year 9 and an option thereafter at GCSE, AS and A2 level.
