Arthur C. Clarke It is the aim of the ICT department at Howell's to fully equip students with skills that are an essential part of everyday life in an increasingly technological world. ICT is a compulsory curriculum subject in years 7 - 9 and at GCSE. By the end of year 9, students are proficient in a wide range of skills including web site design, video production, digital image manipulation, desktop publishing and the creation of interactive multimedia presentations incorporating sound and animation. Expertise in these areas, as well as the full range of MS Office Applications, enables girls to present their work across all subject areas to a very high standard as they progress through the school. The department also educates students in the safe use of the Internet to promote personal safety and the protection of privacy. ICT facilities include secure Internet access, scanning and laser colour printing facilities. Individual computer suites are available for independent study. All buildings on the campus, including boarding houses, are fully networked. 100% of students taking ICT at GCSE level have achieved grades A* to B in recent years.
