Page 1 of 2 Our aim in Kindergarten is to produce a seamless transition between Nursery and the Preparatory School, resulting in successful outcomes of the Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum commenced in Nursery - basically a happy child, progressing appropriately, growing in confidence. Kindergarten, whilst happy, secure and friendly has a slightly more purposeful and vibrant atmosphere than Nursery as we continue to build upon literacy and numeracy skills already acquired. The children are eased into a more structured learning environment eg each child will read to a member of staff every day. Number work, Geography, History and Science are incorporated into lively topic based activities. Trips in the local area also feature and guests are introduced in the form of a representative of the police or fire brigade perhaps, or a parent with relevant expertise. In addition to the consolidation and extension of skills learned in the Nursery we also continue the children's lessons in PE, dance and music. Children can now also participate in a range of extra curricular activities: riding lessons at the Equestrian Centre, music and dance lessons and can join Welsh club.
Kindies not
collected at 3.40pm participate in Infant Club with Middles and Transition. |
